It seems like yesterday I put away all the Christmas decorations. Here we are in December and it’s time to get them out and put them up again. I got my Christmas village up last weekend, and brought home a tree this afternoon, but there’s lots more to do inside and outside. Do you decorate your home for the holidays?
This past month has been very busy for me. I have been creating crocheted fidget sleeves for children and adults living with autism, Alzheimer’s or dementia. The sleeves are filled with various items for them to see and touch — colorful springs, squishy animals, button-on flowers, rings, paper clips, ribbons to tie, braids, pom poms, butterflies, zippers, beads, bracelets, animals, fabric swatches, and other things that keep them busy while sitting quietly. I even make sleeves that fit around seat belts to keep them occupied while riding in the car, and lap robes filled with activities to keep them busy. These make great gifts for nursing home residents or kids with various conditions that make it hard for them to focus or sit still.
May this holiday season bring joy and peace to everyone around the world. Lucky wishes you a Merry Christmas; and to all my Jewish friends, Happy Hanukkah. See you next year!
