Happy November everyone. Wow, this year is going by way too fast for me! It seems like only yesterday we finished all the turkey and stuffing from Thanksgiving dinner 2018. Yet here we are, ready to prepare for the big feast again. So, how about a few good family recipes to get you thinking about your family feast. These recipes have been regulars in my family for over a century already and I still love making them.
- 2 1/2 loaves white bread, dried and broken in pieces
- 6 cups chicken broth + enough water to moisten bread well
- 2 large turkey livers, scraped into bowl so no big chunks
- 4 stalks celery
- 2 onions and 1 apple chopped fine
- 4 eggs
- 2 heaping tsp. poultry seasoning
- large sprinkle of salt and pepper
Mix well and stuff turkey and/or place in large greased bowl 1-1 1/2 hour at 325-350
- 1 lb fresh cranberries
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 pint whipping cream
- 1 cup celery
- 1/2 cup walnuts
- 1-2 apples
- 1 can pineapple, drained
- 1 1/2 cup mini marshmallows
Clean cranberries, celery and apples and place in food grinder with pineapple walnuts and mini marshmallows. Add sugar and fold in whipped cream (can use cool whip if preferred)
Chill for several hours before serving.
Here is my latest project for my Etsy store. They are selling faster than I can make them. A fidget sleeve for seniors with dementia or Alzheimer’s, and also for children with autism. It keeps them occupied while giving them something fun to do–button and unbutton flowers, feel soft textures, braid yarn, tie ribbons, sort beads, hook and unhook rings, and many more activities, all attached to the sleeve. They can wear it on their arm or lay it in their lap so both hands are free.
Lucky Pup wishing you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
